Tiny Sappy Book Haul

It's that time again...

It's summer time! Never mind that I have a race to run next week (peep my new running shirt -- it's black. The fastest color). Never mind that I have two arts and crafts projects due at the end of the month. NEVER MIND that I have a 20 page paper due at the beginning of next month (4 pages down!). NEVER MIND all the other stuff, like work, and housework, and sleeping, and eating.

SUMMER TIME IS FOR CHICK LIT.

We could have a whole discussion about "chick lit" and feminism and gendered writing and reading and representation and so on, but we won't. Not today.

Love @ First Site by Jane Moore.
The spine was purple. It caught my attention. It's a British book, so scores points for fun vocabulary and a slightly nicer take on society.

Lydia Bennet's Story by Jane Odiwe
I've written in the past about post-Pride-And-Prejudice writing, and how it can be either really really good or really really awful.

Lydia Bennet is a funny character. I never hated her, she was just annoying and flippant. Really, the most detestable character in all of P&P is Mrs. Bennet, in my opinion. A book written about (and with diary excerpts from) Lydia should be pretty funny and entertaining, which is all I really ask for these days...

Sorry this is so short, but I am indeed crunched for time.
